We have 5 models left on the Level 8 Monster Encounter Table. These are all Daemon Princes. One for Khorne, one for Nurlge, one for Tzeentch, one for Slaanesh, and lastly one for Undivided. These do not exist on the normal Warhammer Quest Monster tables. This is something our group added. Much like Dragons, when one shows up your roll a D6 to determine its Mark or if its Undivided.
1-2) Undivided
3) Daemon Prince of Khorne
4) Daemon Prince of Slaanesh
5) Daemon Prince of Nurgle
6) Daemon Prince of Tzeentch
When looking for what miniatures to use for Daemon Princes, I knew 3 right off the bat. The old school Daemon Prince kit, came with 2 main builds. One that was clearly Khorne and one that easily could be Slaanesh. There was also a special character, Azazel. Although he was a Slaanesh Daemon Prince, with some minor tweaks, I could make him Tzeentch. These I found easily enough on Telegram. That left Nurgle and Undivided. For these two I dug into Age of Sigmar Miniatures, in the form of Lord of Plagues and the newest Daemon Prince model.
We will start today with the Daemon Prince of Nurgle. I found a proxi STL of the Lord of Plagues. Its mostly accurate to the the real one, other than it has a bloated puss filled right leg, really ugly, perfect for Nurgle. I felt he needed wings to sell the effect of being a Daemon Prince and not just a Nurgle Ogre. I wanted insect wings, as that felt the most Nurgle like. A non-GW company Heresy Labs makes proxies that sure look like they could be Warhammer 40k models, among them is something called a Lord of Decay. I was able to steal the wings off of that, do some editing in blender, and wham-ooh! Nurgle Daemon Prince.

I decided I didn't like the 3 horns coming out of the should pad, so I just left those off, instead leaving a Nurgle Sign of three circles.

Next up Slaanesh Daemon Prince. So the old Daemon Prince kit came with:
One of two heads
One of two left arms
One of two right arms
One of two Chests
One of two sets of legs with loin cloth
One of two tails
and always the same set of wings.
One of the right arms was generic, and the other right arm had two arms of which one ends in a large lobster claw. Back in the 90s I bought two copies of the Daemon Prince kit, and got the claw arm in both. I wanted to make a Daemon Prince of Khorne and a Daemon Prince of Slaanesh, but didn't feel the 3rd claw arm wouldn't look right on a Khorne Daemon Prince, so I removed it with a tiny hack saw. I also didn't like how the wings looked on the Slaanesh Daemon Prince. So I got the idea, to remove the wings from the Slaanesh Daemon Prince leaving the Wing arm studs and removing his 3rd Claw Arm as well, and gluing both Claw Arms onto the Wing Studs on this back to make him kinda look like a smaller Keeper of Secrets. Now over 20 years later, I'm repeating this process using Blender to make my old Slaanesh Daemon Prince (just a little bit smaller).

Slaanesh Daemon Prince Paint:
Skin: "Xereus Purple"
Sword Blade: "Runefang Steel"
Sword Runes: "Flash Gitz Yellow" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash, then finalized with "White Scar" white
Sword Hilt, Hooves, Tail Spikes, & Horns: "Screaming Skull" /w "Skeleton Horde" Wash
Teeth & Claws: "White Scar" white
Lobster Claws: "Mephiston Red"
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" or "Runefang Steel" both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Now onto the Khorne Daemon Prince. This guy is mostly the stock build from the old kit, other than I didn't like the pony tail for this head, so I left it off and used green stuff to build another horn. I also left off the tail and filled in the hole with green stuff there too.

Khorne Daemon Prince Paint:
Skin: "Mephiston Red" (I didn't do any highlighting or shading, this was accomplished by the "slapchop" method)
Axe Blade: "Moot Green" then dry brush over with "White Scar" white
Axe Handle, Hooves, Wing Spikes, & Horns: "Screaming Skull" /w "Skeleton Horde" Wash
Teeth & Claws: "White Scar" white
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" or "Runefang Steel" both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Eyes: "Flash Gitz Yellow"
Moving on, we get to Tzeentch Daemon Prince. As discussed earlier I started with the Special Character model Azazel. I wanted a more Tzeentch feel, so I started by replacing the front part of his face in Blender with a Griffon head I had. Then I changed out his sword with a Tzeentch staff from yet another model. Last change was to leave off the tail, I didn't care for how it looked.
Tzeentch Daemon Prince Paint:
Skin: "Emporer's Children" Pink
Hair, Scales, half the feathers, & Claws: "Kantor Blue" with a dry brush over with mix made of (half Kantor Blue and White Scar)
Other half of feathers: "Troll Slayer Orange" dry brushed over with "Flash Gitz Yellow"
Staff Topper: "Mephiston Red", "Kantor Blue", & "Flash Gitz Yellow"
Skull on necklace & Horns: "Screaming Skull" /w "Skeleton Horde" Wash
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" or "Runefang Steel" both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Eyes & Toe claws: "White Scar" white
Beak: "Flash Gitz Yellow"
Robes: "Corax White" dry brushed over with "White Scar"
Then our final stop, an Undivided Daemon Prince (one that doesn't follow any specific God of Chaos). So this model took me the most time to figure out. I eventually started with a base of the newest Daemon Prince kit. That kit can be built for 40k or for Age of Sigmar. So clearly I choose the Age of Sigmar parts. I still wanted the model to be as simple as I could manage, so I ended up using the wings from the old Fury models. I also skipped putting the chest armor or shoulder pads on him. I left off the tail and filled in the hole using Blender. The last detail, was I swapped out the head. I happen to come across a bust STL for the Character "Darkness" from the 80s movie Legend. This daemon was played by the Tim Curry. How could I not use this here?

Undivided Daemon Prince Paint:
Skin: "Mephiston Red"
Horns, Claws, Hooves, Wing Spikes, Leg Spikes: "Abaddon Black"
Skulls: "Screaming Skull" /w "Skeleton Horde" Wash
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" or "Runefang Steel" both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Eyes & Teeth: "White Scar" white
Wings: "Corax White" dry brushed over with "White Scar"
Stone: "Administratum Grey" dry brushed over with "White Scar"
Loin Cloth & Belt: "Kislev Flesh" /w "Skeleton Horde" Wash
I'm up to 549 monsters
painted, 558 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 9/21/25.
Only 9 monsters left to finish the entire Old World monster encounter table.
That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.
