Wait, didn't I paint these already? 2.0

It's been almost 2 months since my last update.

Two major things have been slowing me down.

First my oldest child came home to visit. This was back in April. This is relevant because we turned their old bedroom into our 3D print room. While they were back we moved all the 3D print stuff into the garage. We still haven't moved it back, so we haven't printed a new miniature since before April 15th. I do have a few model's I still haven't painted that were printed before this time.

The 2nd cause for delay is, I've actually got to start playing Warhammer Quest using my miniatures. We have now played 11 sessions (usually 2 per week). I've started a blog following these adventures. https://blackhillswarhammerquest.blogspot.com/

I have like 13 Plates of miniatures set up to print Orcs & Goblins once the print room is re-assembled.

Now back to normal Paint Blog stuff.

I've wanted the classic glorious 80s hair Dark Elf Witches since I started this project. Sadly by the time I needed to print and paint them, I couldn't find those specific STLs.  I found and printed the proxi's below:

A person by the name Ystlund made these (along with proxis for all sorts of High Elves, Dark Elves, Undead, and Chaos). Sadly it appear they got copy right struck, and most of thier miniatures have been removed from Cults3D and other STL sites.

I then came across some A.I. STL proxis that looked rather close to the ones I wanted.

These are very close, but some details are just off and the hair didn't turn out great once printed.

I did print off enough of these to replace the 6 Witches and 1 champion. But before I could paint them, Scans of the originals finally showed up on Telegram

Witch Elf Paint:
Skin: "Kislev Flesh" /w "Skeleton Horde" wash
Hair: "Emperor's Children" Pink dry brushed over with a mix of (50% Emperor's Children & 50% Scar White)
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" & "Ironebreaker" Silver both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Boots: "Dawnstone" grey  /w "Agrax Earthsade" Wash
Armour : "Xereus Purple"

This is the Hag Queen off the Cauldron of Blood.

Witch Elf Hag Queen Paint:
Skin: "Kislev Flesh" /w "Skeleton Horde" wash
Hair: "Emperor's Children" Pink dry brushed over with a mix of (50% Emperor's Children & 50% Scar White)
Horns: "Screaming Skull"  /w "Skeleton Horde" wash
Heart: "Mephiston Red" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" & "Ironebreaker" Silver both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Boots: "Dawnstone" grey  /w "Agrax Earthsade" Wash
Armour : "Xereus Purple"

Most of my daemons for Dungeon Level 1-3 use STLs I got from Tonoborus on Cults3d.com
I like the vast majority of them. But the Daemonettes don't quit hit right, so I found Scans of the old models I used to have.

Here are the ones I was using painted up:

and here are the new ones I finished recently:

Daemonettes Paint:
Skin: "Xereus Purple"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash, then dry brushed over with "Genestealer Purple"
Teeth, Nails, : "White Scar"
Claws: "Mephiston Red" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" & "Ironebreaker" Silver both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Tongue: "Sotek Green"
Eyes: "Flash Gitz Yellow"
Armour : "Xereus Purple"

The new Daemonettes match up to the rest of my Slaanesh Daemons better now.

So thats 17 models printed and painted to replace 17 I already had done. Not only am I getting less done, I'm spending time re-doing what was already done. I'm not going to get the 600 some miniatures I have left done this year, but I'm still gonna try to make a dent.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Lets start Dungeon Level 3

So as it turns out, I missed one model I needed to finish Dungeon Level 2 Monster Encounter table. I need a Orc Boss. My list showed it not being needed until Dungeon Level 4 for some reason. I manage to find all the mini's for Lair of the Orc Lord as STLs I could download off of Telegram. So of coarse, Gorgut would be the perfect Orc Boss model. But I also now have a much better Skabnoze model, so I painted that one up too.

Gorgut (to be used as Orc Boss), Skabnoze (to be used as Orc Shaman),
and the Orc Shaman I will no longer be using.

Now onto DL 3. I did a pole on the facebook group "Warhammer Quest!", asking what group of monsters I should paint next. I only got 18 votes, but ended up with a tie between Chaos Warrior Champions and Skeleton Tombguard. I let my kid cast the tie breaking vote, and so we get Tombguard first.

These guys I found on a pack of undead for "pocket Hero Quest" by  Tilinger. I do also have all the Mini's for Catacomb's of Terror as STLs I got from Telegram. So I could replace these Tombguard for the slightly nicer ones from the original expansion, but for now I'll use these ones.

 Next up, Chaos Warrior Champions!

So I already knocked out 12 regular Chaos Warrior, but used a simple model from Tonoborus. That model was reminiscent of Hero Quest Chaos Warrior, so I'm looking for an upgraded version of that. So there is an older figure for Hero Quest named Slambo. I'm not really sure why he is called that, or why he is popular, but I did find a remake of that model on Cults3d  made by Soundwave810 . This feels like an upgrade of the guys I used earlier, So I just reversed the paint scheme and there we go.

6 Chaos Warrior Champions

3 Chaos Warrior Champions, with the regular Chaos Warriors behind them.

Next up Daemonettes of Slaanesh. These come from Tonoborus's Daemon Pack. I'm slightly tempted to replace these with original metal model design, but these will work for now.

And last for today, Flamers of Tzeentch. These also come from Tonoborus's Daemon Pack. I love this sculpt.

I'm up to 400 monsters painted, 535 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 6/16/25.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Sadly I still haven't got the 3D Printer set up yet. Been like 3 months, no new miniatures printed. I still have a small backlog to pa...
