All the Monsters, all over the place.

So lots of pictures to show off. Lets get started.

4 Cookie sheets, 558 monsters and 4 Warriors.

To this point I've been storing monsters on cookie sheets. Organizing them in the order I paint them. So Cookie sheet #1 is entirly Level 1 and Cookie sheet #4 is all my most recent painted things. There wasn't quite enough space for everything on 4 sheets, so the 4 Warriors, Nagash and Vermin Lord are just hanging out on the edges.

Lets look at the monsters by Monster type closer up. First up, Orc & Goblins:

10x Black Orcs, Black Orc Champion, 12 Orc, 6 Orc Bowmen, Orc Shaman, Orc Hero, 3 Goblin Shamans, Goblin Hero, 12 Goblin Spearmen, 12 Goblin Archers, 6 Goblin Netters, 6 Goblin Squig Hunters, 6 Squigs, 12 Snotlings, & 3 Fanatics.

 Dark Elves:

6 Witch Elves, Dark Elf Hero, Dark Elf Sorcerer, Witch Elf Champion, 6 Assassins, 12 Dark Elf Champions, Beastmaster, 6 Crossbowmen, & 12 Naggoroth Black Guard.

Great Unclean One, Nurgle Daemon Prince, Undivided Daemon Prince, 3 Beasts of Nurgle, 10 Plague Bearers, & 12 Nurglings. Bloodthirsters, Khorne Daemon Prince, 3 Juggernauts, & 10 Bloodletters.

Miscellaneous Monsters:

White, Blue, Black, Red, & Green Dragons then Giant.
Manticore, Griffin, Cockatrice, Chimera, Hydra, & Wyvern.
4 Warhounds, 3 Giant Scorpions, 3 Ogres, 3 Gigantic Spiders, 6 Chaos Hounds, 3 Gorgons, 3 Chaos Trolls, 3 Stone Trolls, & 3 River Trolls.
12 Giant Bats, 12 Giant Spiders, & 12 Giant Rats.

And all together Now:

Next Project: paint all Warriors, NPCs, Summons, and Hirelings needed. If I have my math right, that's 70 models. I have 51 3D printed already and 4 painted so far. This should be a cake walk.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Finished Level 3 Monster Encounter Table

Everything left for DL 3 monster encounter table is either an enemy Wizards or Unit Champions. Lets get started with Skaven Warlock. I was able to find Grey Seer Thanquol on Telegram. I like using special characters for champions and wizards where possible.

Rather basic paint scheme, "Gehenna's Gold' Helmet, Glowing "Moot Green" Staff, Sword, and Amulet. "Mephiston Red" & "Kantor Blue" robes.  "Kislev Flesh" with "Agrax EarthShade" wash for skin. And the usual "Emporer's Children" pink for Nose, ears, and Tail.

Here is a picture of the different types of Skaven that show up through level 3.

Left to right: Plague Monk, Gutter Runner, Stormvermin, Rat Ogre, Clanrat, & Warlock.

Next, 3 Beastmen Champions. This model comes from Mordenheim Beastmen Team (as will the Beastmen Hero/Lord when he shows up on Level 5 and found on Telegram). Maintaining my polar bear paint scheme of White Fur with black skin, and human skin for all their leather.

Next up, Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer. This STL comes from Tonoborus's free Chaos Dwarf pack. All the Chaos Dwarves and Hobgoblins from this pack were original sculps from Fabelzel. If you go looking you can find more posses and models he made (I did this to find a Bull Centaur Champion). I maintained the same paint scheme as my normal Chaos Dwarfs and Blunderbusses (Gold, Red, and Black). but added some yellow sleeves.

Lets take a look at the various types of Chaos Dwarfs that show up through level 3.

Left to right: Bull Centaur, Sorcerer, Blunderbuss, normal Chaos Dwarf, & Hobgoblin.

Necromancer please, raise up some friends. This necromancer came in the original Warhammer Quest Catacombs of Terror expansion. His name it that is Gunther Laranscheld (found on Telegram).

Here is a picture of the different types of Undead that show up through level 3.

Left to right: Zombie, Wight, Skeleton Swordsmen, Necromancer, Skeleton Bowmen, Ghost, & Ghoul.

Onto Dark Elf Sorceress. This is the 5th edition Morathi model (found on Telegram).

Lets take a look at the various types of Dark Elves that show up through level 3.

Left to right: Crossbowmen, Sorceress, Black Guard, and Witch.

Now for the Beastmen Shaman. This also comes from the Mordenheim Beastmen troop.

Next the Minotaur Champion. I made this model by combining several different STLs I acquired. The blog post "Theseus's Nemesis" covers this in greater detail.

Lets take a look at the various types of Beastmen that show up through level 3.

From Left to right: Minotaur, Minotaur Champion, Beastmen Shaman, Beastmen Champion, Beastmen.

That leaves us with only one model left for the Level 3 encounter table, Centaur Champion. I made this model by combining several different STLs and go over the process in the blog post "Bases, Centaurs, and Start-of-Dungeon level 2".

Here is a picture of the Champion next to normal centaur and the Elf hero for size comparison.

I'm up to 439 monsters painted, 535 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 6/28/25.

The Level 3 Encounter table is now complete, now to start on Level 4.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Gutter Runners, Bloodletter, Black Orcs and Cookie Sheet #2

I eventually found some better Gutter Runners than these, but they have a simple charm. Someone took the old Clanrat monopose model and turned it into a "Build your own Gutter Runner" model. Its a free down load on cults3d.com and can be found here.

I painted them similar to my clan rats, elf flesh with a brown wash for fur, and black cloths. Of coarse pink tails, noses, and ears.

For Bloodletters, I went back to Tonoborus again. I really like how these turned out.

I found the old monopose black orc on Cults3d.com and its totally not a black orc.

I did some slight editing to this model. shrank the model to 67% of normal size. I then increased the size of its hands and weapons.  I also made a slight alternate version of the model by moving the right hand//sword to a different position.

I can't seem to find where I got this Black Orc Boss.

This completes a 2nd cookie sheet. With a 154 monsters.

I'm up to 330 monsters painted, 530 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 5/25/25.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Dwarves, Daemons, Dogs, & Censors.

Time for my first Large Monster, something that takes up 4 spaces. Fiends of Slaanesh. Tonoborus on Cults3d.com provides this model. I decided to paint it up using the classic 4th edition paint scheme (purple skin with bright highlights, red claws and scorpion tail, and green tongue).

Our first Chaos Dwarves, red and gold armor, and black beards. These were also provided by Tonoborus. I did find 2 more shields on Telegram to add some variety.

I'm still hoping to find  5th edition Chaos Hounds. Shown below:

Sadly I could only find 8th editions hounds (found on Telegram), so that's what I painted. If I find the older models I may replace these.

I nabbed these Plague Censors from Telegram.

Pink & Blue Horrors from Tonoborus.

This puts me well over half way done with Old World monsters. And now this blog has actually caught up to me in the real world. 297 monsters painted, 530 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 5/18/25.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Getting Level 2 Underway

Gigantic Spiders are kinda weird. These need to be bigger than Giant Spiders but still fit on a normal sized base. Well the Giant Spiders I got from Tonoborus were already slightly bigger than the normal base size. So I suppose we make the Gigantic Spider look noticeably different and taller instead of bigger. "Bob" had a pack of spider STLs that he sent me a copy of, and in there I found a "Skullcap Hermit Spider" I liked. I removed the Spider Legs from that model, then removed the Cephalothorax and abdomen from the old Giant Spider, then combined these two parts to make the new Gigantic Skull Spider. (Word of the Day Cephalothorax, the fused head and thorax parts of a spider or arthropod)

Here is the model I created by combining those two spiders all printed and painted. The original Giant Spider next to them for size comparison.

Update 8/2/25: Tonoborus now provides a Gigantic Spider for 56 cents you can find it here. So the original rules of Quest don't say how many spaces a Gigantic Spider should take up and it doesn't have Large Monster rules. So when re-writing the game, we determined they only took up one space. Tonoborus interpreted that a model can take up 4 spaces but not have Large Monster rules.

Tonoborus's Gigantic Spider (takes up 4 spaces).

Tonoborus provides a Chaos Warrior for free, making me think its just a scan of the original GW model scaled down for Tiny Quest. I did some google image searches for paint scheme ideas when I found this:

I liked the look, so painted up the first 6 Chaos Warrior each half black and half another color (Green for Nurgle, Red for Khorne, Dark Blue for Tzeentch, Purple for Slaanesh, and White and Pink, because why not?). Initially my plan was to just do each color twice (for a total of 12 Warriors). But after showing them off in a Telegram group, someone suggested the picture below made them look like Power Rangers.

Well, if they are Power Ranges, I would clearly need a Yellow Ranger. Filled out the other 5 with Brown, Silver, Grey, Light Blue, and Orange.

Next up, Rat Ogres. I found an old 4th edition STL on Telegram. I still want an old 3rd//4th edition Boneripper. If I find him, he will replace one of these 3, to add a little variety.

Last for today, we get Trolls. Tonoborus has a custom troll model, but I don't really like it and wanted my base Trolls to be River Trolls. I was able to find a pack having 3 different 6th edition River Trolls (I only used one). I probably should have made a 2nd head to give more variety, but these work for now.

Trolls, Rat Ogre, Ogres, and Minotaurs are "large infantry" in Warhammer Fantasy Battles and are usually supplied on a 40mm base. If I only shrank them down to 67% they would be way too big for my current normal sized base. These guys I ended up shrinking to smaller than 67% and then making them skinnier and/or taller. Below is a picture with my Tiny Quest Elf hero, next my Tiny Quest River Troll, then next to an original metal River Troll I had converted and painted to be a Troll Blood Bowl player for my Goblin Team.

This puts me up to 255 monsters painted, 508 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 5/3/25.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

Wait, didn't I paint these already? 3.0

Sadly I still haven't got the 3D Printer set up yet. Been like 3 months, no new miniatures printed. I still have a small backlog to pa...
