Theseus's Nemesis

So I'm aiming for the nostalgia of the 90s for most of my Warhammer Quest miniatures. What is more nostalgic than that old plastic minotaur wielding a club (or if you were lucky to have the one wielding an axe)? There is just one problem with this model. It has human feet. I despise human feet on a minotaur. It should be hooves. Whats a guy with apparently too much free time and access to blender to do?

So pictured below we have 3 minotaurs I had found. The one to the left is Tonoborus's minotaur. It didn't look enough like the original Warhammer Quest minotaur for me and it had those human feet, so it's a no go. The one in the middle came from the Warhammer Quest! facebook group. I asked if anyone had the original Minotaur, and someone there did have one he had personally made. Its not a scan of the original and has more detail than the original model. Its pretty sweet. (I'm not saying his name intentionally, as I'm not sure if he would prefer to stay anonymous). This hits the nostalgia perfectly, but still suffers from human feet. And lastly the Minotaur to the right we have a Minotaur with hooves and about the detail level I'm looking for. This is from Evilhippie on Thingiverse. You can download the original model here for free.

So its time to blender these guys! I started with Facebook Minotaur and Thingiverse Minotaur. Cut each in half and stitched them together. This got me to about 80% of where I wanted to be. Sadly as you can see in the picture below, my Minotaur now has a codpiece // diaper combo goin on. Where the models join is defiantly the weak point.

Then I remembered, I have the Tonoborus model. I was able to steal his chain-mail bikini. I first removed the codpiece and then joined the bikini front and back. I'm calling this perfect. Exactly what I wanted. Reminiscent of the original Warhammer Quest Minotaur with the added bonuses of hooves and no diaper.

But we aren't quite done yet. We need a Champion/Hero/Lord model. So upgrades. Well lets remove the club. Give him axes. A little extra armor in the form of a shoulder pad, then mirror the whole thing so he isn't standing in the exact same way as the others (plus make him just a little taller). And there we have it, the upgraded Minotaur.

Now its time to paint. I have a rather large Beastmen Army. They are painted like polar bears (white fur, black skin). All the leather they have is made to look like human skin. Cause you know cows want to get even for leather jackets and such. I used that paint scheme on my beastmen for Quest, might as well keep it up for the Minotaurs too.

I haven't painted the Minotaur Champion yet, he doesn't show up until Dungeon Level 3 (still working on Dungeon Level 2).

This puts me up to 137 monsters painted, 408 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed. As of March 8th, 2025.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

DeMagic Tutor out.
