Getting Level 2 Underway

Gigantic Spiders are kinda weird. These need to be bigger than Giant Spiders but still fit on a normal sized base. Well the Giant Spiders I got from Tonoborus were already slightly bigger than the normal base size. So I suppose we make the Gigantic Spider look noticeably different and taller instead of bigger. "Bob" had a pack of spider STLs that he sent me a copy of, and in there I found a "Skullcap Hermit Spider" I liked. I removed the Spider Legs from that model, then removed the Cephalothorax and abdomen from the old Giant Spider, then combined these two parts to make the new Gigantic Skull Spider. (Word of the Day Cephalothorax, the fused head and thorax parts of a spider or arthropod)

Here is the model I created by combining those two spiders all printed and painted. The original Giant Spider next to them for size comparison.

Update 8/2/25: Tonoborus now provides a Gigantic Spider for 56 cents you can find it here. So the original rules of Quest don't say how many spaces a Gigantic Spider should take up and it doesn't have Large Monster rules. So when re-writing the game, we determined they only took up one space. Tonoborus interpreted that a model can take up 4 spaces but not have Large Monster rules.

Tonoborus's Gigantic Spider (takes up 4 spaces).

Tonoborus provides a Chaos Warrior for free, making me think its just a scan of the original GW model scaled down for Tiny Quest. I did some google image searches for paint scheme ideas when I found this:

I liked the look, so painted up the first 6 Chaos Warrior each half black and half another color (Green for Nurgle, Red for Khorne, Dark Blue for Tzeentch, Purple for Slaanesh, and White and Pink, because why not?). Initially my plan was to just do each color twice (for a total of 12 Warriors). But after showing them off in a Telegram group, someone suggested the picture below made them look like Power Rangers.

Well, if they are Power Ranges, I would clearly need a Yellow Ranger. Filled out the other 5 with Brown, Silver, Grey, Light Blue, and Orange.

Next up, Rat Ogres. I found an old 4th edition STL on Telegram. I still want an old 3rd//4th edition Boneripper. If I find him, he will replace one of these 3, to add a little variety.

Last for today, we get Trolls. Tonoborus has a custom troll model, but I don't really like it and wanted my base Trolls to be River Trolls. I was able to find a pack having 3 different 6th edition River Trolls (I only used one). I probably should have made a 2nd head to give more variety, but these work for now.

Trolls, Rat Ogre, Ogres, and Minotaurs are "large infantry" in Warhammer Fantasy Battles and are usually supplied on a 40mm base. If I only shrank them down to 67% they would be way too big for my current normal sized base. These guys I ended up shrinking to smaller than 67% and then making them skinnier and/or taller. Below is a picture with my Tiny Quest Elf hero, next my Tiny Quest River Troll, then next to an original metal River Troll I had converted and painted to be a Troll Blood Bowl player for my Goblin Team.

This puts me up to 255 monsters painted, 508 monsters 3D printed of the 558 needed as of 5/3/25.

That's all for this post, may your lantern always stay lit.

DeMagic Tutor out.
