Orc & Goblin Expansion : Part 2

 

So I've fallen way behind on painting. I keep getting distracted by side projects (New Doorways, Some New Base sizes, New Cookie Sheets for Organizing, and a Project for each playable class to have both Male and Female models). 

So all the way back in August I did a poll on what to paint next in the Facebook Group "Warhammer Quest!".

The results were:
1st: Forest Goblin Spider Riders 
2nd: Orc Boys riding Boars
3rd: Forest Goblins with Bows
4th: Savage Orcs
5th: Orc Big Un
Lat place: Forest Goblins with Spears. 

So before I can paint the riders, we better paint the spiders first.

So not sure why I find these old guys so charming, but I'm using the really old forest spider models.  There were only 2 variants originally, but on telegram I found someone who made 2 more variations.  This puts me to 4 variants. So printed off 3 "orc face" original, 3 "pincer mouth" originals, 2 "dweeb smile" customs, and 2 "proboscis mouth" customs. With a quick google search I found some very colorfully painted spider and thought that looked cool and followed that paint scheme.

Each of these spiders has a magnet in its back, so the riders are removable. In our monster encounter lists, sometimes these cavalry spiders show up with no riders.

Gold & White Forest Spiders Paint:
White: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Gold: "Gehenna's Gold" /w "Skeleton Horde" Wash
Pincer: "Mephiston Red"
Teeth: "Scar White" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash

Blue & White Forest Spiders Paint:
White: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Blue: "Sotek Green"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash then dry brushed over /w Mix (50% Sotek Green 50% Scar White)
Pincer: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Teeth: "Scar White" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash

Green & White Forest Spiders Paint:
White: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Green: "Moot Green"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash then dry brushed over /w Mix (50% Moot Green 50% Scar White)
Pincer: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Teeth: "Scar White" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash 

Purple Forest Spiders Paint:
Purple: "Xereus Purple"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash then dry brushed over /w Mix (50% Xereus Purple 50% Scar White)
Teeth: "Scar White" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash  

Orange Forest Spiders Paint:
Orange: "Troll Slayer Orange"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash then dry brushed over /w Mix (50% Troll Slayer Orange 50% Scar White)
Teeth: "Scar White" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash   

Flaming Champion Forest Spider Paint:
Body Paint front to back "Flash Gitz Yellow, to Troll Slayer Yellow, to Mephiston Red, Black Legion wash over White Scar on rear. With  "Agrax Earthshade" Wash over everything but Black Legion area.
Teeth: "Scar White" /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash

 

Next we need riders;

Forest Goblin Spider Riders Paint:
Feathers: "Flash Gits Yellow", "Sotek Green Stripes",  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Shields: "Mephiston Red" face, "Flash Gits Yellow" border
Skin: "Moot Green"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash
Leather & Wood: "XV-88" or "Kislev Flesh"
Bones: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" & "Runefang Steel" both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash 

 Like the spiders, Boars can show up with no fides, so these too have magnets on their backs.

Boars Paint:
Champion Boar Fur: White Scar /w Black Legion wash
Fur: "Catachan Flesh" dry brushed over with mix  "XV-88"
Ears, Snouts, and Area around eyes: "Kislev Flesh" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Tusks & Hooves: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Metal Bitz:  "Runefang Steel"  /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash 

 Orc Boy Riders Paint:
Skin: "Warpstone Glow" Green /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash 
Light color Leather: "Kislev Flesh" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Medium Leather: "XV-88"
Dark Leather: "Catachan Flesh"
Horns & Bones: "Screaming Skull" /w Skeleton Horde Wash
Metal Bitz: "Gehenna's Gold" & "Runefang Steel" both /w "Agrax Earthshade" Wash 
Shields: "Mephiston Red" face
Teeth & Eyes: "White Scar"
